- Bananarama is known for You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008), Youth in Revolt (2009) and Rain Man (1988).
- The girl band's love of partying during the 1980s apparently provided some inspiration for the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous (1992) after its star/writer Jennifer Saunders had accompanied them on some of their vodka-fueled binges.
- Siobhan Fahey left the group in 1988 to create the duo Shakespear's Sister with Marcella Detroit. Fahey was replaced in the band by Jacquie O'Sullivan.
- In 1981, Banarama was formed as an all-girl trio consisting of Siobhan Fahey, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward.
- Despite being one of the most successful pop groups of the 1980s and the most successful all female group, they never had a UK number one single or album.
