Asha is passionate about animal welfare, volunteering hundreds of hours since 2001 to shelters that rescue and aid domestic animals and wildlife in Australia and the U.S. During the 2019-20 bush-fire disaster named the "Black Summer", Asha became an active member of the ARC (Animal Rescue Cooperative Australia).

Married to American Musician Robert Rothko, they share a son.
