Biography

Hana Moon

Mini bio

  • Hana Moon was born in Busan, South Korea where she was singing and dancing at the age of three. When she was two her mother Sangok Moon, a nurse, and her father Yousung Moon, an art professor moved to the US and settled in Philadelphia to start a new life for the family. Hana stayed behind in Korea with her grandparents till her parents brought her over at the age of five.

Singing and acting has always been a passion for Hana. At the age of 9, being the only Asian in school and with her broken English, she won the role of Cinderella in her school musical. That was her first stage experience and it changed her life forever.

Her other interests in art lead her to get an BFA in Industrial Design at Carnegie Mellon University. It was there she took her first acting class as an elective at their prestigious Drama Dept. Just a year after graduation, she left her design job in New York City to pursue an MFA at The Professional Actors Program at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in conjunction with the PlayMakers Repertory Company. There she learned her chops, her AEA and SAG union status and moved to New York in 2001 to work professionally.

Hana got agent representation immediately with Abrams Artists Agency, with whom she is still with today. Her favorite theatrical role thus far is Emily from Our Town by Thorton Wilder at PlayMakers Rep. Her favorite film/TV role is Min Ji Webster from Army Wives on Lifetime. She also keeps busy doing commercial work and print.

Hana is a multi-faceted artist and has not abandoned her love of singing and art. Her love of singing continues as she has delved into the world of jazz since 2009, learning jazz piano and performing vocals in NYC. And her love of art continues as well. She has an art studio in Soho where she paints and is building her body of work. Her art website will be announced in the near future. Lastly, she is a businesswoman with her own real estate company, True Lofts New York LLC.
