Biography

  • Mahesh Jadu is an Australian actor and writer-producer of Indo-Mauritian heritage, born in Melbourne and raised in Perth, Western Australia. His ancestry - rooted in Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and the island of Mauritius - has shaped a screen presence that moves fluidly across cultures, languages, and worlds. He is best known internationally for his role as Vilgefortz, the formidable and morally complex sorcerer in Netflix's The Witcher (Seasons 1-5), and as Ahmad Fanakati, the Silk Road scholar at the heart of Netflix's Marco Polo (Seasons 1-2). Both roles placed him among the principal cast of two of Netflix's most globally watched series. Further credits include Rise of the Conqueror (2026), The Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky (2025), The Furnace (2020), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), and Roland Joffé's The Lovers (2013). Beyond acting, he is an active writer and producer, developing original projects through his production company Ākaasha Media.

Trivia

  • The bridge of his nose was broken by a sword during the shooting of an action scene in Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, dramatically reducing his appearance in the movie.
