Tal S. Shamir (Ph.D.) is an award-winning filmmaker, scholar, and published author. He has directed, produced, written, and edited dozens of short films that have screened at international film festivals, galleries, and museums around the world. His work has received numerous honors, including a Gold Medal from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Student Academy Awards for his film The Vermeers.
Tal is the creator of the documentary series The Visual Revolution and the author of Cinematic Philosophy (Palgrave Macmillan), a groundbreaking work exploring the intersection of cinema and philosophical thought. He teaches filmmaking at The New School University in New York City, where he also serves as a leading faculty producer for the university's signature film festivals and screenings: Ruff Cuts and Fine Cuts.
