Shaun Drew

Shaun Drew is a Grammy nominated Los Angeles based music producer and composer. His modern and multi colored sound palette is defined by sophistication and emotional depth, balancing technical skill with a visceral and often spiritual quality. His broad love of music has made him highly versatile, with credits spanning comedy, animation, documentary, drama, horror, and thriller feature films.

Shaun is known for his work in film and television as well as his collaborations with Los Angeles based artists and bands as an arranger, producer, and engineer. His music has been featured in national advertising campaigns, hit television series, and major motion picture trailers. A prolific writer for strings, Shaun frequently blends orchestral elements with guitars, drums, keyboards, bass, ambient textures, and percussion, his primary instrument. Memorable melodies and intricate rhythmic phrasing are central traits of his composition style.

From 2015 to 2019, Shaun served as composer for DC Super Hero Girls, the original animated franchise that grew into a billion dollar brand for DC Entertainment and Warner Bros Entertainment. He composed and produced nearly six hundred minutes of original music for the television special Superhero High, along with multiple video releases, a television and internet series, and on demand content. In its early seasons, the YouTube shorts amassed more than one hundred fifty million views. Shaun also composed the score for the seventy fifth anniversary documentary Secret Origin The Story of DC Comics, creating over eighty minutes of orchestral music in less than three weeks. In addition, he contributed music to the marketing campaign for the Disney and Pixar animated film Brave. Shaun also composed the main musical themes for Gloves of Stone, a bilingual boxing drama starring Martin Sheen and Michael Madsen, partially filmed in Mexico City. His debut solo recording, an ambient album titled The Great Dissolve, received strong critical praise and comparisons to electronic music pioneers Brian Eno and Wendy Carlos. The album was named a finalist by the Independent Music Awards, and a Billboard staff writer described it as a powerful cascade of melody.

Shaun also scored The Vault, a bank heist and horror hybrid film starring James Franco, Taryn Manning, and Francesca Eastwood, which received theatrical releases in the United States and United Kingdom in 2017.

Earlier in his career, Shaun worked with the independent label Vitamin Records, arranging and producing string quartet tribute albums based on songs by Jeff Buckley, Peter Gabriel, Foo Fighters, and Paul McCartney. He collaborated on these releases with engineer and producer Richard Bosworth, whose credits include work with The Knack, Barbra Streisand, Steve Perry, and USA for Africa. Before fully transitioning into film scoring, Shaun also worked as a producer, arranger, and recording engineer with Los Angeles based rock and pop artists including The Mornings, Michael Paul, John King, Rojeh Band, and Katrina Parker, a semi finalist on The Voice season two. He also collaborated on two classical crossover albums, The Kurt Weill Project with tenor AJ Teshin and Lullabies in Motion with soprano Katherine Liner. Lullabies in Motion earned two Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominations, including Best Americana Folk Acoustic Song for Slumber My Darling by Stephen Foster and Best Independent Music Video for Beau Soir by Claude Debussy, which Shaun directed and co produced. A strong believer in music as a storytelling force and agent of cultural change, Shaun often creates visually striking projects to accompany his work.

Most recently, Shaun produced Tombeaux with artist and composer Christina Sandsengen, an album nominated for a 2026 Grammy Award in the Best Classical Compendium category.
