Nayla Al Khaja is the first female film director in the United Arab Emirates.
Her debut feature, "Three", premiered in 2024 and went on to secure theatrical releases across multiple territories, including Türkiye. Her latest feature, "BAAB", a psychological drama film, wrapped production in February 2025, co-written by Masoud Amr Allah and features an original score by two-time Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman, with cinematography by Rogier Stoffers, ASC. The film received a theatrical release across the MENA region on January 8.
Known for her moody palettes and intricate sets, Nayla's films explore social stigma and personal transformation through layered storytelling. With over two decades leading her production company, she blends creative vision with business acumen, establishing herself as a pioneering voice in Middle Eastern cinema.
