Biography

Ry Barrett is a Toronto based actor, originally from Guelph, Ontario. Ry began his acting career while making a micro budget horror film in 2002 with his friends, 'just for fun.' The film ended up being distributed worldwide through Lions Gate/Alliance Atlantis. This sparked a lifelong relationship with the craft that lead to future acting projects in film/television, as well as writing and producing projects. He can be seen in recent festival comedy hit and 6 time CSA Nominated 'Cult Hero', & most recently in the highly touted Sundance 2024 hit 'In A Violent Nature,' playing the lead, 'Johnny,' as well as current genre festival hit & CSA Nominated, 'The Hyperborean' and the award winning festival comedy-horror hit 'Beyond The Chamber of Terror.'

On set of his first film, Barrett was struck in the head by a camera jib which caused a large gash on the top of his head which required 11 staples to close at the hospital. He then returned to set and finished his scenes.

Barrett gained 15 lbs of muscle and bulk for his role in the film 'I Choose Chaos' and then went directly into preparation mode for his role in 'Neverlost', for which he lost 50 lbs and shot 2 months afterwards. His diet consisted mainly of a diuretic cabbage soup, tuna and water for that 2 month period.

Barrett split his head open while shooting a scene in 'Neverlost' in which he crawls out of bed for the first time and collapses to the floor. The gash was treated, make-up applied to hide it, and then Barrett completed the scene.
