Doug Barry (Douglas C. Barry)

Douglas Curtis Barry was born on June 22, 1963 in Los Angeles, California to Patte and Jack Barry, both of whom worked in the TV and advertising industries. His father, Jack Barry, was a pioneering gameshow host and producer for such shows as 'The Joker's Wild'. Barry earned a B.S. degree from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard University. At Berkeley, he became President of live music for SUPERB (a student run entertainment organization) and produced over 20+ shows for notable acts including Carlos Santana, Eddie Money, Oingo Boingo, Tito Puente and Jean Luc Ponty, and collaborated with the legendary music promoter, Bill Graham.

Following Harvard, Barry spent 25 years in the media, entertainment & technology industries as a successful entrepreneur, investor, producer & entertainment executive. His startups raised over $300M of venture capital, generate over $1.5 billion in annual revenue, and have a combined market value in excess of $5 billion. Several went public and many others were acquired by major tech companies including Facebook, IBM and Google.

As benefactor of the Barry & Enright media library, one of the largest television gameshow libraries of its time, Barry started his career producing TV gameshows in the late 80's and became President of Jack Barry Productions, the company which made famous by 'The Joker's Wild'. Barry was Co-Executive Producer of 'The Joker's Wild' and was instrumental in developing the hit Disney/Buena Vista syndicated TV gameshow, 'Win, Lose or Draw'.

Barry segued into the emerging interactive entertainment industry, founding the kids division for Electronic Arts (EA Kids) and spearheading Turner Broadcasting's brands such as The Cartoon Network & Hanna-Barbera into the interactive world as Senior VP of New Media. Later, he was founder and CEO of Videojax, one of the first online video-based trivia games.

As a founding venture capitalist identifying break out companies with Selby Ventures, Barry helped disrupt the music industry when he became founding venture investor in Pandora Media, now the largest global internet radio service with over 100 million users & $1.5 billion in annual revenue. It continues to be one of the top 10 mobile iPhone apps of all time. He has also held senior executive & advisory positions for a variety of successful tech companies including Liberate Technologies (IPO), TIVO (IPO), Glue Mobile (early mobile gaming IPO), Rightsflow (acquired by Google) and Source3 (acquired by Facebook).

As Chairman of Digital Riot Media, a millennial focused movie & TV production company which produced the award nominated feature 'FML' and breakout Blumhouse/Universal hit thriller, 'Happy Death Day'. 'Happy Death Day', a $5M budgeted feature, went on to gross over $125 million in box office revenue, making it one of the most profitable films of 2017. The Digital Riot team has worked with leading media and technology companies including Universal, Sony, Disney, Apple, Turner, Warner Brothers, Electronic Arts, Pandora, 20th Century Fox, Funny or die and Light Storm.

Recently, Barry served as Chairman of MegaStar Millionaire, a million-dollar talent competition platform who partnered with music megastar Usher to creatively fashion and promote the media. Barry also finances top performing artists through his company, Artist Capital Finance.

Barry spends his free time advising non-profits and panel speaking: 10 year advisor and Silicon Valley liaison to Grameen Foundation, a leading micro-finance organization; 7 year Board member - Juma Ventures; Leadership Council - Positive Coaching Alliance; Advisor - Bullpen Capital & Third Wave Partners.
