  • John Massey is best known to theatre audiences across North America as Howard Cunningham in Happy Days - A New Musical. John's 25 years of regional credits include: The Piano Player in Gunmetal Blues for Ensemble Theatre of Santa Barbara, Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors and Herr Schultz in Cabaret for the Moonlight Amphitheater; Dimas in Triumph of Love (with Eden Espinosa) for Performance Riverside as well as John Hancock in their LA Ovation Award winning production of 1776; Moonface in Anything Goes and Zeke/The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz for Musical Theatre West. Other credits include: Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum; Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof; The Chairman in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and the title role in Sweeney Todd. John received LA Ovation Award nominations for his work as Dave Bukatinsky in The Full Monty (2007- Musical Theatre West) and as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys & Dolls (2005- Musical Theatre West). John was also an original cast member on board Disney Cruise Line's ship, the Disney Dream, where he appeared as Hades in Villains Tonight and Tony in The Golden Mickeys. He also created the role of the Genie in Disney's Believe.

    A bit of a theatrical renaissance man, John is also an accomplished director, musical director, pianist and conductor and vocal arranger; having staged and/or conducted over 75 productions. Favorites include productions of : Sweeney Todd, Quilters, Weird Romance, The Secret Garden, Chess, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Little Night Music, Beehive and Ruthless! John has composed incidental music for several plays and is researching ideas for a new musical. He is also in the process of recording his debut CD.
