Biography

Benjamin F. Chavis was born on May 22, 1948 in Oxford, North Carolina, USA. He is an actor and producer, known for Belly (1998), The Chavis Chronicles (2020) and Eyes on the Prize (1987). He is married to Martha Rivera. They have four children. He was previously married to Donna.

Has been featured on Jim Jones new album "Hustlers P.O.M.E."s 20th Track "Concrete Jungle".

In 1960 he was the first Black in Oxford, North Carolina to get a local library card at the age of 12.

Is a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

After college he worked for the Commission for Racial Justice.

He teamed up with Louis Farrakhan of the Nation Of Islam to stage the Million Man March in Washington, DC on 16 October 1995.
