In 2022, she created Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration, a historic comedy concert and Netflix variety special. Filmed at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, it was Hurwitz’ vision to create a celebratory event featuring LGBTQ+ comedy icons, headliners, and emerging voices. In 2023, she wrote, directed, and produced Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution (Netflix), a feature length documentary that chronicles the history of LGBTQ+ stand up. It had its world premiere at Tribeca Fest and was selected to be the opening night film at the 2024 Provincetown Film Festival. In 2026, Hurwitz resumed filming her documentary Sail of the Century. In addition to her original projects, Hurwitz has developed and served as showrunner on a variety of television series for network, cable, and streaming outlets. She has also directed and/or produced comedy specials for Tiffany Haddish, Fortune Feimster, Wanda Sykes, Cristela Alonzo, and Michelle Buteau. Welcome to Buteaupia, which Hurwitz directed and produced, won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy Special. Tiffany Haddish’s Black Mitzvah won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.
