Michael Serebriakov was born in Budapest, Hungary. Shortly thereafter, his parents moved back to Moscow, Russia where Michael grew up until the age of thirteen. His upbringing in Russia was relatively atypical as he began to study English at the age of six in a private elementary school. During the summers, he would often spend time on a farm away from the hustle and bustle of Moscow, chasing sheep and exploring the countryside.

An avid ice hockey fan, Michael played in the Spartak Moscow pee-wee development program and was a big fan of the NHL. This love of hockey transferred very well in his move to Canada. After going through an anxious immigration process for three years, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1999.

Taking to the pen at the age of ten, his writing blossomed into a full-time hobby five years later with the help and enthusiasm of his closest friends. He has been writing short fiction and attempted several novels since. He is also no stranger to television, having been on two episodes of the Canadian trivia challenge "Smart Ask!" as captain of his high school team.

One of his short stories, Calendar Leaves, has been adapted into a short film by Martin Dudzik and the film has been recognized at the Young Cuts Film Festival in Toronto for Best Film and Best Cinematography. Calendar Leaves also won the best film award at the BC Students Film Festival.

After spending three years in Toronto, Michael currently (August, 2012)resides in Vancouver and is working to complete his first novel.
