Biography

Nicholas M. Garofolo is an award-winning actor from New York City, born in the Bronx. He starred in "Twenty Twenty," which won Best Psychedelic Fantasy Short Film at the Retro Avant Garde Film Festival in New York City (2020) and Best Horror/Thriller at the Golden Wheat Awards Festival (2022). The film also screened at the Buenos Aires International, Andromeda, and AfterLife Film Festivals. Its sequel, "Blood Fear," was nominated for Best Sci-Fi Film at The Hollywood Monthly Film Festival and won the Ruby Award at the Focus International Film Festival. The next installment, "Feeding on the Living," won Best Sci-Fi Film at The Hollywood Monthly Film Festival. Together, these three films became chapters of the feature "Crime Traveler: The Adventures of Dave Slade," available on Tubi, Plex, Fawesome TV, Troma, Cineverse, and Prime Video.

Nicholas played the male lead in "The Immigrant," which screened in 2021 at the Boden International, Paris International, and Golden Short Film Festivals. He also had a lead role in the improv comedy "Bobo Touch Helpline - The Kisser," shown at the Manhattan Film Festival (April 2019), Festival of Cinema NYC (August 2019), and Coney Island Film Festival (September 2019). He wrote "Raw Sewage," which screened at the NY Underground Comedy Festival (May 2020) and Couch Film Festival (February 2021).

In 2024, Nicholas wrote and starred in "Artificial Evil Awakens," which won Best Horror/Science Fiction Film at the Indie Cine Tube Awards. In 2026, he wrote "Hannah of the Dead," playing the role of Fred. Based on a Cape Cod myth, the film won Best Short Film at the iDEAL International Film Festival, and Nicholas also wrote lyrics for two songs on its soundtrack.

Nicholas, a second-generation American of Italian and Irish descent, studied acting with Master Teacher Gene Frankel at the Gene Frankel Theatre in New York City and with Master teacher Peter Miner, director of One Life to Live. He has taken on both dramatic and comedic roles in feature films and television, portraying characters such as a detective, mobster, street thug, con man, doctor, and lawyer. Nicholas has also showcased his talent in sketch comedy at the Player's Theater, the Broadway Comedy Club, "A Sketch of New York" at the Producers Club, Groundworks Theatre in New York City, and in improvisation at the Vino Theater in Brooklyn, NY. He holds three college degrees.
