Barrett Rakestraw is a PGA producer and actor raised in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where he is now based. After spending several years living and working in Los Angeles, he returned to Texas to focus on grounded, emotionally-driven film, television, and theater work.
His producing work includes projects for The Walt Disney Company, ABC Radio Networks, and The Tom Joyner TV Show. He developed the original concept for A Kiss Goodnight, a film idea for which he brought on Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman to write the title song - later featured in Disneyland's nightly fireworks show. He also illustrated Wabbles the Happy Little Hippo, a children's book written by his mother during her cancer treatment.
Rakestraw has served as series creator and executive producer on multiple original projects under the Disney banner, including High Notes, Adventure Room (produced through Maker Studios), and Cole Plante: Unfiltered, the latter in partnership with VEVO and The Walt Disney Company.
As an actor, he trained for several years under David Dean Bottrell, and at Warner Loughlin Studios and the Beverly Hills Playhouse. He portrayed Prince Barin in Flash Gordon, part of SAG-AFTRA's 10th annual Radio Plays series at the Gene Autry Museum in Los Angeles.
Now back in Texas, he's re-engaging with film, television, and theater projects across the region, with a focus on grounded characters and emotionally-driven storytelling.
