Demian Fuica was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, and immigrated to Canada in 1979. After obtaining his degree with a major in film studies at the University of Montreal, he directed various music videos before writing and directing his first independent feature, La Dernière Incarnation (2005), which premiered at Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival.
His second independent feature, La Run (2011), was selected in official competition at the 35th Montreal World Film Festival, the 4th Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, the 6th Crime Film Festival of Liège, and the 30th Quebec Film Rendez-Vous. The film received three nominations at the 2012 Quebec Jutra Awards, including Best Editing, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Screenplay.
In 2016, he founded 8cube, his production company dedicated to developing and creating audiovisual content. In 2021, he produced and directed Camping Trip.
Alongside his directing career, Fuica works as a feature film editor. His editing credits include La Run (2011), P=wp L'Énergie Sombre (2015), Camping Trip (2021), Once Upon a Princess (2024), Emma sous influence (2024), Harlem (2025), and Neglected (2025).
In 2025, he launched Portail.ai, an AI film firm at the forefront of a new wave of cinematic production.
