Hilmar Sigurðsson

Hilmar leads GunHil Ltd., a production company in Reykjavik, Iceland, a venture he formed with his long-time partner, artist Gunnar Karlsson. Hilmar produced two largest film productions ever in Iceland, the animated feature films 'Legends of Valhalla - Thor' and 'Ploey - You Never Fly Alone'. GunHil is now in early production with Ploey 2 - a sequel to the successful film that was distributed theatrically in over 70 countries in 2018-2019. Hilmar was the CEO of Sagafilm for six years but Sagafilm is the oldest production company in Iceland, operating since 1978. Sagafilm is active in film, TV-Drama, non-scripted, documentaries and services to foreign production shooting in Iceland. Sagafilm has furthermore co-produced with numerous producers, both from Europe and the US. Hilmar served for years as the Chairman of the Board of SIK - Association of Icelandic Film Producers and the Icelandic Film & TV Academy. He is still a Board Member of SIK.
