Biography

Matt Zien is a film and television producer and the founder of KNGMKR Labs, a creative studio at the intersection of cinema, technology, and culture.

Zien most recently produced Slauson Rec, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Leo Lewis O'Neil and crafted from over 800 hours of footage, the documentary marked Zien's first major project as an independent producer. His previous producing credits include The Curse of Von Dutch (Hulu), Paris Hilton's acclaimed documentary This Is Paris (YouTube Originals), and This Giant Beast That Is the Global Economy (Amazon), hosted by Kal Penn and executive produced by Adam McKay.

Through KNGMKR Labs, Zien develops original content, branded campaigns, and experimental storytelling initiatives across entertainment, technology, and culture. The studio collaborates with innovative partners including Microsoft, Coachella, Anyma, and Grimes, creating immersive experiences, music films, speculative world-building, and cinematic R&D.

Previously, Zien was Senior Vice President and Creative Director at Emmy-winning production company IPC, and Head of Brand Development at its parent company, Industrial Media (acquired by Sony Pictures Television in 2022). As IPC's first development executive and founding team member, he helped build the company from startup to industry leader, developing and/or producing more than 50 series and films across 30+ networks and platforms.

Zien began his career as a development executive at All3Media America and Studio Lambert, contributing to unscripted hits for CBS, FOX, and CNN.

He is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a member of the Television Academy.
