Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Pittman pursued a Bachelor of Science in Physics at Old Dominion University.This academic background has contributed to his analytical approach to cinematography, allowing him to blend technical precision with artistic expression.

Pittman's collaborations with director Zach Clark have been particularly noteworthy. He has served as the director of photography for all of Clark's films, including Modern Love Is Automatic, Vacation!, White Reindeer, and Little Sister(which premiered at SXSW 2016).
