Biography

  • Fayeque M. Townsend-Rahman is a Canadian Filmmaker and Advertising Creative Director, born to parents of Indian descent. A global traveler and true global citizen, he was born in South Africa, and raised throughout Europe, where he was educated in Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. He studied Philosophy at McGill Univeristy where he wrote a thesis on the "aesthetic object as a bridge between the Phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty and the Nominalism of Nelson Goodman."

A visual story teller from a young age, he first found an outlet in television, starting his career with the Norwegian based Worldview Global Media. As a Producer, he worked in civil war-torn Sri Lanka establishing "The Entity Group" as an international consortium for new filmmakers shifting into the digital domain. This company catalyzed his initiative to pursue directing in motion picture. Accordingly, he entered the prestigious Masters program at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California, where he finally engaged the film production process at its fullest.

His first film, "Necessary Illusions," opened at the 22nd Torino Film Festival in Italy, in 2004, and was given the "Visionary Award" at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival in 2005. His second film, "Playroom," first opened in California in 2006.

Fayeque works and lives between North America and Europe.
