Born in Freeport,Texas to parents Sharon of English-Irish descent and Lynel Savoy, of Acadian (Cajun) descent and named after the two wives of Jacob, Lea Rachele Savoy spent most of her youth training and showing horses in competition events. Her family eventually relocated to Hawaii, where she graduated from Mililani High School on the island of Oahu. She was accepted at several universities to study for a degree in Geology/Geophysics but instead, her life took a different turn and she attended college in Washington State, where she studied film theory, industrial film/video/television production and audio engineering. While a college student, she was a Seattle indie band photographer and music video DP for several bands during grunge music's rise into popularity.

After graduating college, Lea produced several documentaries for distribution worldwide for the education market, freelanced in television production, produced multimedia for large corporations and has collaborated with other independent filmmakers on theatrical films.

Wrote an industry article for the 2nd issue of Film Connection, a free street publication in Seattle in the mid 90s, which was the precursor to MovieMaker magazine.
Half-sister of actress Ana Savoy.
Worked as a temporary hire in the United States Civil Services for U.S. Army Logistics Assistance, Ft. Lewis, Washington USA, during the UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter field & air trials and within the private sector aerospace industry with a metal fatigue testing contractor for military tactical jets such as the F-16, F-18 and F-22 as well as commercial aircraft.
Her late mother Sharon Kay (Byrd) Camarco, nicknamed "Miss Jerri", was a renown horse trainer from Texas who instructed United States Marine Corps mounted police patrol units at Camp H.M. Smith (Oahu-Hawaii), embedded with the USMC mounted fence line patrol units at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and trained/managed the USMC Barstow (California) Command's matching palomino mustangs used in the USMC Mounted Color Guard's public appearances. Sharon was the 1st known female civilian to train military mounted patrols under the U.S. Dept. of Defense (now renamed the U.S Dept. of War).
Her late father, Lynel Savoy, was a bell helmet salvage diver in Freeport, Texas who survived 2 near fatal diving incidents and later provided security for a U.S. oil exploration team and was one of only two survivors of that company's helicopter crash in the Amazon jungle.
