Hackworth is a relative of the late Col. David Hackworth (1930-2005), well known as a highly decorated soldier and military journalist. They share a common ancestor, John Hackworth, who served with George Washington in the Revolutionary War and was at the Siege of Yorktown and Surrender of Cornwallis.
