EMMY-nominated HELENA MEDINA started her career at NBC in New York. Since 1995, back in Europe, she creates, writes, and show-runs series for numerous channels and streamers. She's now writing and showrunning "Red Queen" for Amazon, also as executive producer; and finished writing "XRey" (Starzplay) with Howard Gordon (24, Homeland) as her executive producer.
Important milestones in her career are "Operation Checkmate", nominated for an EMMY and awarded, among others, with the Bronze Medal at the New York Festivals and the FIPA d'Argent at Biarritz; "23F: The King", which won her the ALMA Award for Best Screenplay; a nomination for World's Best Screenplay at the International Festival of Shanghai; the New York Festivals Silver Medal, the National Television Award of Spain and the ONDAS, among others. Other significant works are "Quello che nascondono i tuoi occhi", "Niños Robados", "De la ley a la ley", "A Christmas Story", "Welcome Mr. Kaita", etc. Most of them have also received international awards and nominations (Festivals of Monte Carlo, San Sebastian, etc). and unprecedented audience rates.
Helena is a member of the Writer's Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) and a member of SGAE's direction board in Spain. She has been a jury member at the EMMY Awards, the San Sebastian Film Festival, and the WGGB Television Awards. She has a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York.
