He was a singer, songwriter and guitarist and a member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. The group won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with Save Your Kisses for Me. The song reached number one in over 30 countries and became one of the best-selling singles in the contest's history. Other members of the group were Nicky Stevens, Lee Sheriden, and Sandra Stevens to whom he was married for 45 years. Other hit songs were United We Stand, Oh Boy, and Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby.
