Biography

John Anthony Flavin is a gay film director, scriptwriter and T.V. producer known for projects such as BOARDWALK EMPIRE, DIVORCE, ENTOURAGE, THE COMEBACK, THE PACIFIC and JUEVES his first short which he wrote produced and directed and ALIEN. A second short he just completed.

Starting from the bottom, he has worked alongside some of the most prestigious names in the Film and TV world. He started out as assistant to John Melfi on Lisa Kudrow's return to T.V. in THE COMEBACK, season one for HBO. From there he went on to assist Steven Levinson and Denis Biggs on ENTOURAGE, after which he had a brief stint as a development executive for Producer/Director Alan Poul at his production company, BOKU FILMS. Shortly after he was asked by HBO to go to Australia for a year where he had the good fortune to assist all directors for the critically acclaimed follow up to Band of Brothers, THE PACIFIC. It was here he worked alongside such prestigious directors as Tim Van Patten, Carl Franklin, David Nutter, Graham Yost, Tony To and Jeremy Podeswa, forging life long career peers. After the series was completed, Terence Winter and Tim Van Patten offered him a job as an associate producer on Martin's Scorsese's first T.V. project BOARDWALK EMPIRE, where he spent five years working alongside some of T.V. and Film's best writers, actors, producers, directors and crews. For the final season he was promoted to Co-Producer. After Boardwalk Empire finished it's 5-year run, his next project was as an Associate Producer on Sarah Jessica Parker's re-entry into not only T.V. but again at HBO. DIVORCE, created by the highly esteemed Irish actor, writer, Sharon Horgan. Another highlight of his career. When the first season ended, he decided it was time for a change and he moved to Europe. In 2017/2018 he wrote, produced and directed his first short, JUEVES. His first passion project, which to date has placed at 15 awards for best short and has 39 nominations for best short, best director and best lead actress. JUEVES has been accepted in festivals throughout the world. AIEN has been accepted into the first 2 it was submitted for. He holds both an American and EU passport, and is residing in Manhattan. He he has written 3 original pilot scripts, one which was a finalist at the 2019 Oaxaca Film Festival; one a finalist at the Big Apple Film & Screenplay Competition, and he is also working on 2 features. He is also a producer for a boutique Spanish production company to sell them for productions looking to shoot in Spain and get the highest quality experience at a competitive price with 24/7 attention to detail from pre-production through post.
