Dawn Chubai was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Growing up in a supportive family environment alongside her siblings, she developed an early interest in the arts through participation in school plays and drama competitions. This period of her youth laid the groundwork for her later pursuits in performance and entertainment.

During her formative years, Chubai pursued studies in Human Resource Management, a field that encompassed subjects such as conflict management, microeconomics, and business studies. Alongside her academic endeavors, she actively engaged in theatrical productions, which helped her further refine her performance skills and solidify her passion for the creative arts .

Chubai embarked on a professional career in entertainment initially as a jazz singer and independent recording artist. Her early involvement with the Edmonton Musical Theatre Group allowed her to explore and hone her musical talents. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she gained practical experience by serving as a public relations officer for a healthcare guild during the early 1990s. Her determination led her to form her own jazz ensemble, an endeavor that earned her recognition from the Alberta Recording Industry Association for Best Jazz Artist.

As her career evolved, Chubai transitioned into the realm of television broadcasting. From 1999 to 2004, she gained practical on-camera experience as a weather forecaster at a local television station. Her successful foray into television opened up further opportunities as a host with a regional network. This period marked a significant breakthrough, eventually leading her to secure roles in feature films, including a widely recognized performance as an anchorwoman in a superhero production. Through these varied experiences in acting, hosting, and music, Chubai has established herself as a versatile figure in the entertainment industry.
