Sara Radle is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker/actor/musician/songwriter, originally from San Antonio, Texas. Sara grew up with a passion for and involvement in theater. As a child, she borrowed her godmother's camcorder to create a series of short video films, fake news broadcasts, fake talk shows, and fake commercials - all starring her younger brother and other neighborhood children. Eager to learn more about the world of filmmaking as she grew older, she enrolled in the film production program at San Antonio College.
Shortly after college, Sara put her love of acting/filmmaking on hold for a decade while she concentrated her efforts on her music career. In that time, she released an impressive five solo albums, as well as records with The Rentals (with ex-Weezer bassist, Matt Sharp), Calamity Magnet, and Walking Sleep. She toured all over the United States, as well as Spain and Japan, and won several music awards from local and regional weekly newspapers, including "Best New Act" and "Best Female Vocalist" from The Dallas Observer, as well as "Artist of the Year" from The Fort Worth Weekly.
While Sara continues to write music, in late-2012 she decided to return to her first loves - filmmaking and acting. In her first year back on the acting scene, she booked roles in five films (all of which were leading roles), six commercials, and featured roles in several television shows.
Through her small successes as an actor, Sara was able to fund equipment purchases for her newly formed production company, Good Kitty Studios, in 2013. To help familiarize herself with her new gear, she shot a series of music videos - both for herself and for Los Angeles garage-punk legends The Muffs.
Sara began writing her first feature-length film, "Eleven Hundred to Lubbock", around this time. As another way to experiment with additional film equipment she had acquired, Sara wrote a short film inspired by "Eleven Hundred to Lubbock" called "First Shift Back". In August 2014, she got some friends together to shoot the footage for the short film in one day. Taking inspiration from hands-on fellow San Antonio filmmaker Robert Rodriquiez, Sara directed, shot, and edited the film, and also wrote the music herself.
In late-2015, Sara teamed up with cinematographer Daphne Qin Wu to shoot a proof-of-concept short film version of "Eleven Hundred to Lubbock". The proof of concept was used in fund raising efforts for the feature length version of the film, which was shot in September of 2016 and featured Sara in the lead acting role. She also directed, edited, and scored the film. Sara will submit the film to festivals in 2017, while she begins work on her next feature screenplay - a story about an all girl Catholic high school in San Antonio, Texas.
