Biography

Alexandre Brisa is a French director, born in 1990 in a multicultural family of artists. His passion for cinema and his desire to make films began during his childhood, when he discovered movies like City Lights by Charlie Chaplin, Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands and Cédric Klapisch's Pot Luck. At the age of 16, his great-uncle, Hollywood actor René Auberjonois, took him to visit the film sets in Los Angeles. His passion was sealed. He moved to Paris to study cinema and created a film club at his school, where he discovered the films of Andrei Tarkovski, Agnès Varda, Sydney Lumet or Gus Van Sant. Immersed in the music world, Alexandre directed numerous videos for artists such as Møme, Claire Laffut, Thomas Roussel or La Chica. He collaborated with Arte and La Blogothèque, and made forays into advertising for Lacoste and Dr. Martens. Between two music videos, Alexandre did not forget his first love and kept writing short stories on his notebook. In 2019, he started creating his first short film, Lovers, a tribute to the balcony scene in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, performed by actors of different ages and languages. This short film, both intense and sensitive, was awarded three prizes in 2020 (Prize for photography at the Nikon Film Festival; Special Mention at Très Court International Film Festival, Best Short Film Award at ARFF Barcelona), and a selection at the Cannes Film Festival. For his second short film, Les Larmes du Ciel, Alexandre imagined a dreamlike story exploring the feeling of love, inspired by Maurice Maeterlinck's L'oiseau bleu. He was selected to participate in the Groupe Ouest and perfected his script with Jonathan Millet and Marine Blin. He is currently in the final stages of development of this project, co-produced by Améthyste Films and Ad Vitam.
