- Tzang Merwyn Tong is a self taught filmmaker who learned everything about filmmaking through his first film, e'Tzaintes (2003).
- Youngest Singaporean to release a film commercially on DVD. (For the film A Wicked Tale, released by Comstar Entertainment in 2005).
- Founded his own production company INRI studio in 1999.
- Considers himself a misfit. Although he was never bullied in school, Tzang felt like he was an outsider, and socially awkward at times. Growing up, he learned to adapt and fit in, thanks to an outlet he has to express himself, and 'be free' through art. As a filmmaker, he still feels like a misfit in the industry, especially when it comes to the kind of offbeat films he makes.
- Listed as a member of the Magnificent Seven in Singapore's VIP Magazine, with reporter Tara Rushton calling them "Today's Iconoclasts. Tomorrow's Icons.".
- Named by I-S magazine as one of the X-factor personalities to watch out for.
