  • Alexander Stanishev is a Bulgarian cinematographer and a member of the Bulgarian Association of Cinematographers, the European Film Academy, and The Syndicate 7.

    His work has screened at international festivals including Camerimage, Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW, Sarajevo, and Slamdance.

    He is best known for the feature film Touched with Fire (Dir. Paul Dalio, executive produced by Spike Lee, starring Katie Holmes and Luke Kirby), the documentary The Magic Life of V (Dir. Tonislav Hristov), and the feature documentary In Hell with Ivo, which received a Jury Special Mention at the Sarajevo Film Festival and eleven additional international awards.

    Stanishev is a recipient of the Kodak Vision Award for Best Cinematography at Slamdance and the Bulgarian Film Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Faith, Love and Whiskey (Dir. Kristina Nikolova).

    He has shot eight feature films, eleven prime-time television series, nine feature documentaries, numerous short films and music videos, and over 200 commercials in Europe. His work has taken him to film in the United States, across Europe, and in the Caribbean.

    He is currently in post-production on two feature films-one directed by Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva, the other by Dimitar Kotzev - Shosho-as well as two feature documentaries by Dir. Tonislav Hristov and Pavel Vesnakov. He is also in production on a documentary directed by Kristina Nikolova connected to the CETI project.

    From 2012 to 2015, he taught cinematography at Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences in Finland.
