Extreme is an American rock band, headed by frontman Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, from Boston, Massachusetts. The band reached the height of their popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Extreme has released five studio albums and has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Their acoustic ballad single "More Than Words", reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States
