- She moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1964 and signed with United Artists Record Company. She went to Capitol Records from 1966 to 1972. She would later record for independent record labels from 1972 to 1974. She returned in 1974 to United Artists to work with Larry Butler.
- She married several times. She is survived by her three sons, Tim Pierce, Kevin and Ronnie Jones; five brothers and one sister, Betty Love, Edward Spears, Leroy Spears, Jack Spears, Bennie Spears and Hubert Moore; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
- She played guitar with the western swing band, the Light Crust Doughboys.
