Biography

Fabrizio La Palombara

Mini bio

  • Fabrizio La Palombara is a cinematographer with almost three decades of experience working across feature films, documentaries and commercials, both in Italy and internationally. In 2026, two of his films are selected for the Venice Film Festival. "Hombre al agua", directed by Gael García Bernal and shot in Mexico, is presented in the Venezia Spotlight section, "Ritorno a Buenos Aires", directed by Marco Bechis and shot between Brazil and Italy, is in Competition. He was also the DoP on "Another End", the near-future drama directed by Piero Messina, starring Gael García Bernal, Renate Reinsve, Bérénice Bejo and Olivia Williams, and presented in Competition at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival. His work has recently received several awards for Best Cinematography, including the Cheval Noir Award for Best Cinematography at the 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival for "Ferine", directed by Andrea Corsini and Best Cinematography at the 2026 Manchester Film Festival for "Afrodite", directed by Stefano Lorenzi. He works closely with directors, building a strong creative dialogue to find together the right visual world for each film and its genre. His approach to cinematography is rooted in the belief that a film is beautifully shot when its images move us because of what they tell, rather than simply because of how beautiful they are.
