Joe Martin Thomas was born in Ozark, Alabama to Willie Thomas, Jr and Deborah Thomas. The third and youngest child of three, Joe and his family moved to West Germany after his father completed flight school for the Army. Moving frequently since birth after completing all elementary school years in Europe the family moved to the states. After brief stays in the south and southwest region of the country Joe's primary upbringing is in Maryland. Looking for a change, Joe moved to California in the early 2000s. Joe is approached by a talent scout in the mall within weeks of arriving in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. After being invited by close friend, Allen Maldonado , Joe attends actor workshops with acting coach Bobbie Chance , Joe is quickly signed with AdvanceLa agency and within a month after signing Joe books his first guest starring role on the second episode of CSI NY.
