  • Jen Parkhill "JP" (they/she) is an award-winning filmmaker and actor born in Southern California.

    JP earned their BFA in drama at the Tisch school of the arts, NYU, with minors in Creative Writing and Film Production.

    JP is the director of numerous hit Vertical Series within Reel Short's Boy Love Franchise, including Waterboy, awarded Best Vertical of the Year at the Vertical Drama Love Fan Awards 2026; Poolboy, awarded best LGBTQ Vertical by the Vertical Drama Critics Circle Awards, 2026; Stableboy; and Waterboy: Second Down, Reel Short's first sequel within the franchise.

    They are the Executive Producer, Writer and Co-Lead of the award-winning short film, Honey & Milk (honeyandmilkfilm).

    JP's primary training at NYU was at The Atlantic Theater School where they studied Practical Aesthetics, a technique created by David Mamet and William H. Macy, Suzuki, Viewpoints, Voice, Speech, Repetition, Dialect training, Sketch Comedy, Performance Techniques, and Script Analysis.

    Additional studies at NYU Tisch included NYU's Stonestreet Film & Television Studio with focused training on acting for the camera and voice over work, poetry and fiction courses at NYU Florence, NYU's Selective Summer Training Program in Amsterdam through the Experimental Theater Wing with a focus on Clown, Commedia dell'arte, and devised work, and finally, NYU Berlin, focusing on the techniques of Stanislavsky, the work of Brecht, and training amongst global conservatory students at the FIND Festival, Berlin, with workshops led by Schaubuhne Artistic Director, Thomas Ostermeier.
