Ramen Cromwell

Biography

  • Ramen Cromwell, a native of Boston Massachusetts, started telling stories at 6 years old when he was featured on the Willie Whistle Show reciting his version of Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby... not much has changed since then. In High School Ramen was recognized by the NAACP Act-So competition for his Gold Medal performance of an original monologue, Power Up Today: Prelude to Another Black Male Suicide. His stage directorial debut came shortly thereafter with an adaptation of the piece into a one act play which premiered during his Freshman year at Vassar College. Ramen continued his narrative evaluation of social dynamics and the experience of black men in America through several other theatrical projects before moving to New York City for work as a full time editor and producer in 1997. Ramen worked for several years in television for ABC News, during which time he joined with a long time friend, Neal Acosta, in creating Black Water Films, LLC a company dedicated to producing new and interesting Independent Films. Black Water Films helped to finance director John Young's sophomore effort The Reception which premiered at the Tribeca Film festival in 2005. In 2006 Ramen went to work for The Weinstein Company before making his film directorial debut with the short film Coney Island, an official selection of both the Boston and Coney Island film festivals (taking a Jury Prize in the latter). Ramen returned to ABC in 2007 and collaborated on pieces with Beyoncé (Beyoncé: I Am... Yours) Michale J. Fox (Always looking Up: adventures of an incurable optimist) and others before working as part of the Emmy award winning Hopkins 24/7 series. A two time DuPont and Peabody Award winner Ramen has had the privilege of working for some of the biggest names in News including the late Peter Jennings, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Christiane Amenpour, and Robin Roberts to name a few. His work can be seen daily advertising ABC's News Magazines and Special Events Coverage including Election 2016. Ramen also is active in developing and pitching projects for ABC News and Entertainment. Currently Ramen lives with his wife and family in Brooklyn, New York.
