Biography

Vladimiro Roca was born on December 21, 1942 in Havana, Cuba. He was married to Magaly de Armas. He died on July 30, 2023 in Havana, Cuba.

Father Blas Roca Calderio was a co-founder of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Named after Vladimir Lenin.

Has one son and one daughter.

In 1961, at the age of 18, he was among the first batch of young elite selected for training as fighter pilots in the Soviet Union. He served for ten years in the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces.

In 2002 he won the Civil Courage Prize.
