Juan Pablo Sallato
Juan Pablo Sallato is a film and television producer and director. In 2010, he released Ojos Rojos, which became a box-office success and the most-watched documentary in the history of Chilean cinema. He directed Adictos al Claxon (2013), winner of the 2014 Altazor Award for Best Director, and the TV series La Cultura del Sexo (2015). As a producer, he worked on Zamudio, Lost in the Night (2015), awarded at FIPA Biarritz 2016, and La Cacería (2018), a major audience hit in Chile. He also produced Matar a Pinochet (2020), nominated for Best First Feature at the Platino Awards 2021. In 2021, he directed the documentary series Libre, which won the UAH Award for Excellence in Audiovisual Journalism. In 2022, he produced Villa Olímpica, winner of Best Film at SANFIC 2022, followed by Poemas Malditos (2023) and the second season of La Cacería (2024). He recently completed his debut fiction feature, Hangar Rojo, an international co-production with Italy and Argentina. The film is inspired by the autobiographical chronicle Disparen a la Bandada by Fernando Villagrán.
