Michael E. Stone is best known for his narration on the Christopher Beaver documentaries Nagasaki Journey (1995 -- with Judy Irving), Between Dreams and History: The Making of Shimon Attie's Public Art Projects (2000), and Tales of the San Joaquin: A River Restored (2010).

Michael studied method acting under Jean Shelton at the Jean Shelton Actors Lab, recognized as one of the finest method acting schools in the U.S. He trained in the art of improvisation under the late San Francisco improv master and actor, Jim Cranna. Additional experience was gained on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf as a close-up sleight-of-hand artist and street musician.

In 1958, as a very young child in Savannah, Georgia, Michael got his acting start as a guest on the popular television series "Romper Room." Also important -- in fact, noted by Michael as "critically important" to the development of his performance skills -- was his early work in the New Orleans French Quarter as a street hot dog vendor for the legendary Lucky Dogs hot dog company. Alas, Michael's later career has, as yet, failed to live up to these auspicious beginnings.

Michael lives with his wife in San Francisco, California.

    • Trivia
In 1931, his maternal grandfather was a founding member of the Palo Alto Players, the first theater company on the San Francisco Bay Area peninsula, later home to noted alumni Jack Palance, Danny Glover, and others. During WWII, his mother also acted with the Players. In 1975, Michael continued the family tradition by acting in the theater's presentation of the Eugene O'Neill comedy "Ah, Wilderness".
