Biography

Steven Bennett is a New York based producer of a wide variety of media, with a focus on nonfiction projects that help us understand our world. He produced the media for the Ocean Wonders: Sharks! wing of the New York Aquarium which opened in 2018, post produced Frédéric Tcheng's Halston (2019) and Ric Burn's American Ballet Theater (2015) for PBS' American Masters, served as supervising producer on the Peabody Award winning film Don't Tell Anyone (No Le Digas a Nadie) (2015) and has provided guidance to a number of independent films, including the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival documentary My Own Man (premiering as a Netflix Original March 2015).

He produced Keep a Child Alive with Alicia Keys for Showtime and served as line producer for hundreds of episodes of the Emmy winning Now on PBS. His documentary feature film work includes co-producing the Tribeca 2011 Audience Award winner Give Up Tomorrow (which the New York Times called "jaw dropping") and 2003's Sumo East and West, consulting on Independent Lens' A Dream in Doubt and POV's Kokoyaku, and many others. He has been supervising producer on series from American Documentary (the company that produces POV), National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, and edited programs for PBS, World Channel and the History Channel.

Steven Bennett has also produced exhibits and installation films for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County's award winning new Dinosaur Wing and the Sony Wonder Technology Lab. In various roles, he has also worked on exhibits for the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Florida Aquarium, the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, and the Walnut Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
