Román Martínez(II)

Román Martínez is a zookeeper and wildlife management specialist with over 30 years of experience working with Venezuelan wildlife. His distinguished career unfolded at the Paraguaná Zoo (Gustavo Rivera Environmental Park and Zoo) in the city of Punto Fijo, Venezuela. Martínez participated in conservation and breeding programs for the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos adornado), the Military Macaw (Ara militar), and the Helmeted Curassow (Pauxi pequeño); the facility was the first zoological institution to successfully breed these endangered species in captivity. He also served as the zoo's collection manager and nutritionist, working with crocodiles, bears, jaguars, pumas, tapirs, anteaters, and more than 100 other species of Venezuelan animals. Additionally, he contributed to television programs such as Ernesto Parilli: Ley Natural (Vive TV), Horizontes de Venezuela (Venevision), and Bitácora (RCTV). He was an environmental educator for Marisabel Aguirre de Santana's "Mi Pequeño Planeta" program.
