Rita Winkler

Rita Winkler is a Canadian watercolor artist and author known for vibrant, expressive paintings inspired by the world around her. An artist who happens to have Down syndrome, Winkler has created hundreds of artworks distinguished by color, movement, humor, and joy.
She is the co-author of My Art, My World and Color Outside the Lines. Her life, creative process, and paintings are the focus of the short documentary A More Colorful World: The Artistry Behind Rita Winkler. Her artwork also inspired and appears throughout the animated music film Rita Paints What Rita Sees. In both films, she is credited as the illustrator rather than as an actor or onscreen participant.
