Biography

She is the founder and director of the Intersex Society of North America (ISNA). She works to organize intersexed individuals to create a voice against unnecessary genital surgery in infants and children, to bring the voice of medically abused intersexed people into the debate over standards of care for intersexed children, and to foster self esteem in intersexed people.

She was originally assigned male at birth, but was surgically re-assigned as female at approximately 12 months old. Her efforts to discover her own medical history, past the lies and deceptions, led her to feel strongly that standard of care of intersexed infants accepted almost universally, but developed by Dr. John Money at John Hopkins Gender Clinic were wrong.
