Biography

Anwar Aazad is an Indian actor, director, producer, and civil engineer known for his work in independent cinema. Born on January 25, 1984, in Reorha Village of Darbhanga, Bihar, India, he developed a passion for storytelling and performance from an early age. As the son of an army officer, Anwar spent his childhood in different cities across India due to his father's transferable postings. Growing up in diverse cultural environments gave him a broad perspective on people, languages, and traditions, which later influenced his approach to storytelling and performance. During his school years, he developed a deep interest in Raj Comics, through which he learned the fundamentals of storytelling, character development, and dialogue delivery. His love for comics played a significant role in shaping his creative imagination. Anwar completed his higher education at Jamia Millia Islamia University, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. Alongside his academic pursuits, he trained in theatre with IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association), Delhi, where he built a strong foundation in acting and stage performance. He also participated in several stage productions during his theatre years, refining his craft through live performances. He made his screen debut in 2005 with the Doordarshan drama Zabane Ishq, directed by Muzaffar Ali. Although the project was completed earlier, it was officially telecast on DD National in 2014, marking his first on-screen appearance. After continuing to develop his craft, Anwar made his feature film debut in 2025 with Nomophobia Maybe It's You, where he served as both an actor and co-producer. The project marked the beginning of his journey in independent cinema as a filmmaker and performer. In the same year 2025, Anwar took on multiple creative responsibilities in the film Khelunga (Will Play), working as director, producer, and actor. His work reflects a passion for meaningful storytelling and a commitment to creating independent cinema while contributing both in front of and behind the camera.

Together with his wife, producer Raziya Sultana, he co-founded RaRaRi Productions, an independent production banner dedicated to developing original films and socially relevant stories. His performance has also received recognition at international film festivals, including the Most Outstanding Performance ,Special Jury Award at the Athens International Monthly Film Festival (AIMFF).

Anwar is also working on the upcoming music video Insaan Banega, continuing to expand his presence in the entertainment industry. With a background in civil engineering, formal theatre training, and experience across multiple creative roles, he continues to build a diverse career in filmmaking and acting.

His mother, Habiba Khatoon, has been a constant source of encouragement throughout his journey. As he continues to pursue new creative projects, Anwar Aazad remains dedicated to telling compelling stories through film, television, and music.
