Nancy Jane Marron Asti

  • Actress
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Born Nancy Jane Marron in Ridgewood, NJ, in same hospital as Robert Sean Leonard. Grew up in Ramsey, NJ, Atglen, PA and San Diego, CA. Acted in school plays and local theatre before joining AFTRA. As an AFTRA member obtained extra rolls, voice overs and commercial jobs. Parents were both entertainers. Was a competitive swimmer as a child and a competitive ice skater as an adult. Married in 1980 to Philip Kirk after dropping out of Green Mountain College in Vermont. She played field hockey while there and acted in lead role of "Dark Comedy". While in Atglen she had roles at the Fulton Opera House production of "Baby" and Ephrata Playhouse In the Park production of "Moose Murders" where the Lancaster New Era gave her a rave review stating " seeing Nancy Kirk as the maniacal daughter is worth the price of admission." Also during this time in the 80's, she and her husband were cast in the film "Witness" as Amish by casting director Tom Scott, who was a personal friend and co worker of her husband. After Tom died of leukemia in 1985 before the film's release, Nancy suggested they dedicate the film to him. Whether it was her suggestion or a combination of everyone's, it happened and the last credit in Witness is "Dedicated to Tom Scott." Nancy also had extra roles in the 1980's Broadcast News, Mannequin, Made In USA and Dead Poets Society. Divorced in 1988 and moved to Newark, DE. Graduated from University of Delaware with a Mass Communication degree and married Carl Asti in 1995. Nancy worked as an Event Manager for U of D live events with such acts as the Harlem Dance Theatre and Gregory HInes. In 1988, she was a production assistant on Dead Poets Society. Here she moved from one department to another, from Picture Car Coordinator, to Special Effects Assistant to Construction Assistant, Props Assistant, Set Decoration Assistant and finally Accounting Assistant. Executive Producer Duncan Henderson and Director of Photography John Seale called her a "renaissance girl." While shooting a scene in Middletown Delaware, she and Robin Williams who had become friendly with one another, were in line for lunch at the catering truck when she turned to him and said, " If I could Carpe your Per Diem , I would be eating back at the Hotel Du Pont." ( where Williams was staying) Robin thought this hilarious and would seek her out for fun bantering after that. Williams would go on to use this term, CARPE PER DIEM in his comedy routines and interviews. ( including one in the Wall Street Journal). Nancy gave him a custom T Shirt with this on it for Christmas gift and he wore it to the cast wrap party. Nancy went on to work at the Wilmington Playhouse in Delaware on production crew and film crew of Beloved with Oprah Winfrey in 1999. She worked on both cast and crew as an extra and a production assistant. In 2022, she was cast as "Viola" in Brave The Dark starring Jared Harris and directed by Damian Harris. In 2022 moved full time to North Carolina and worked as background in Welcome to Flatch, Untitled J and L Project and The Summer I Turned Pretty and Zoey 102.
