Published a trilogy of underground novels known as "The Audrey Green Chronicles." These sold several thousand copies and became a local sensation in Chicago, leading him to his first agent and several feature articles in the local press. The books remain unsold to mainstream publishers, having notoriously started many fights in New York between adoring editors and doubtful marketers.

Darren Callahan's father worked for the CIA in the 1970s; his mother was an import/export trainer.

Though he started in mystery and sci-fi, Darren Callahan is well-known in the Chicago horror scene for his hit play, "Horror Academy," part haunted house, part theatrical experience. He has also contributed to the coffee table book "Horror 101" and has a dozen horror credits to his name.

Winner of the National Public Radio radio drama award for his 1997 30 minute drama, "Uncle Ant," about circus freaks and actors.

Played his first rock concert was at age 16, opening for the infamous Guided By Voices in their early years. He has over 100 albums released on various labels and under different band names. He has toured with 10,000 Maniacs, The Smithereens, A Flock of Seagulls, Missing Persons, Trip Shakespeare, and others. He was "discovered" by the same person who brought the world Smashing Pumpkins, Poster Children, Material Issue, and Brainiac.
