Biography

Dan Cregan

Mini bio

  • Dan Cregan began his professional creative career as a comic book artist and illustrator. Not satisfied with the direction of his work, he decided after getting a degree in graphic design to return to school and study film. While taking classes Dan discovered a graduate program in animation that would use his illustration, graphic design and filmmaking skills in concert with each other. After producing four short animated films and receiving a master's degree he proceeded to do award winning pre-production, visual effects, and post-production work for a number of high profile independent films.

Dan made his professional directorial debut with the short film Red Princess Blues Animated: The Book of Violence. The award winning film, starring actress Paula Garces (Harold and Kumar, Man of the House, The Shield) was screened in film festivals around the world. For home video release the film was completely recast with new added footage and an all new soundtrack by Cris Velasco (God of War, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands) . The film (renamed Red Princess Blues: Genesis) stars Hollywood veteran Lance Henriksen (Terminator, Aliens, The Quick and the Dead) and can be found on the anthology release Lipstick and Bullets.

Since 2011 Dan has gone on to work for some of the biggest visual effects and animation studios in the world such as Digital Domain, Blue Sky Studios, Weta Digital, MPC and Industrial Light and Magic.
