Biography

Raffi Armenian was born on June 4, 1942 in Cairo, Egypt. He is known for Shadows and Fog (1991), The Medium (1977) and The Music of Man (1979).

He was awarded the C.M. (Member of the Order of Canada) on December 29, 1986 and invested on April 29, 1987 in Verdun, Quebec, Canada. He was Music Director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and the Canadian Chamber Ensemble, founder of the Stratford Festival ensemble, this pianist, composer and teacher has devoted much of his time and energy to the improvement of the musical milieu in this country.

He was awarded the 2002 Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Governor General in Île-Des-Soeurs, Quebec, Canada.

He was awarded the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Canadian Governor General in Verdun, Quebec, Canada.
