Biography

Marcel Dekanovsky was born on November 2, 1948 in Prague, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. He is a director and actor, known for Genesis and Catastrophe (1974), Noc Moreny (1974) and Piesen o studnicnej vode (1993).

His work has been recognized by numerous domestic awards, including Most Successful Program of the Year, Prize for Direction, Viewer's Prize and others. His film "Pravom lasky" ("By the Right of Love"), the story of a Gypsy girl during the war, was chosen to represent Czechoslovakia at international festivals. The film drama "Jasanica" received the Special Jury Prize in Edmonton, Canada. In 1990 he was presented the Grand Prix Circom in Bled, Slovenia for the documentary "50 dní po..." ("50 Days After...") on the Romani question.

1994 - directed 3 television plays in Prague and Brno. 1990 - founded the private firm MAC TV 1991 - member of the international jury of INPUT, the worldwide television conference. 1992 - member of the international jury of Grand Prix Europe in Berlin. 1996 - founder of TV Nasa ("Our TV "), the private local television broadcaster in Kosice. 2000 - 2001 general director TV GLOBAL - network of Slovak TV stations 2002 - present, adviser, owner CREATV production company
