Fred Freed was born on August 25, 1920 in Portland, Oregon, USA. Fred was a producer and writer, known for The DuPont Show of the Week (1961), NBC White Paper (1960) and NBC television special: The Pursuit of Pleasure (1967). Fred died on March 31, 1974 in New York City, New York, USA.

Fred Freed was a leading practitioner of prime-time documentary during the genre's heyday of the 1960s. Working on the network flagship series NBC White Paper, he produced close to 40 major documentaries, which earned him seven Emmy and three Peabody Awards.
